Privacy Policy
Skiisu is an iPhone app that helps you decide where to ski and plan your day on the mountain. It is made by Koivuniemi LLC, a Colorado company (“we”). This policy covers the Skiisu app and skiisu.com.
The short version: we use your information to run Skiisu and make it better for you. We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an identifier for your account, plus anything you choose to share through Sign in with Apple.
- Your starting point and preferences. Where your ski days start, which may be your home address, along with your terrain confidence and preferences, the conditions you’d rather avoid, how far you’ll drive, your pass, and what you want from a given day.
- Location. With your permission, your location while you use the app, for example during a ski day.
- How you use Skiisu. The runs you rate, the plans you choose and change, your feedback, and what Skiisu learns about your preferences.
- Your subscription. Apple handles payment and never shares your card details with us. We receive your subscription’s status from Apple, such as purchase, renewal, expiry and refund dates.
- Device and technical information. Identifiers the app creates for your phone, app and device details, IP address, and the logs and diagnostics we need to run and secure the service.
- When you contact us or join our email list. Your email address and anything you send us.
How we use it
- To run Skiisu: make your morning call, estimate drives, plan and adjust your day, and keep your account and subscription working.
- To personalize it, including learning which runs and days suit you.
- To maintain and improve Skiisu, including fixing problems and studying how well its calls and plans work.
- To contact you about your account, and, if you join our email list, about Skiisu’s launch and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To protect Skiisu and its users, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run Skiisu:
- With service providers who host and operate Skiisu for us, such as cloud hosting, website hosting, maps and email providers. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
- With Apple, for Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, maps, place search and driving directions.
- When the law requires it, or when we need to protect the rights, safety or security of our users, the public or Skiisu.
- If Koivuniemi LLC sells or transfers Skiisu, with the new owner, who must handle it consistently with this policy.
- With your consent.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. skiisu.com doesn’t use advertising cookies or trackers.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and as long as we need it to provide Skiisu. When you delete your account, we delete your information, except for limited records we need to keep for security, legal or accounting reasons. Copies in backups and logs are removed on a rolling schedule. We keep your email list address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
Deleting your account
In the app, open the Profile tab, scroll to Account and tap Delete account. You can also email hello@skiisu.com and we’ll delete it for you. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel your subscription, because Apple bills it; cancel in Settings, then Apple Account, then Subscriptions.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your profile and starting point in the app at any time, and turn location access off in your phone’s Settings. To get a copy of your information, correct it or delete it, email hello@skiisu.com. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under privacy law, and we’ll honor them as the law requires.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and for sensitive credentials. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that information will never be accessed without permission.
Children
Skiisu is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Where Skiisu is offered
Skiisu is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Skiisu changes. We’ll post the new version here with its effective date, and if a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by another reasonable means.
